Hi friend

I can’t believe I’m entering into my 9th year as a photographer! Hi Beautiful, I’m Renee Jael, founder of Renee Jael + Co, originally from Trinidad + Tobago, obsessed with Marvel, Caramel + Cheese popcorn + deep belly laughs.

How it started

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I’d had an interest in learning photography + *modeled* a bit but only started shooting when a friend asked me to hold on to her camera and I knew it was time. She had so much trust in me 😂 🙌🏽 and I’m thankful she did!

I’d taken it to Mexico on a 6 week missions training and when I returned I bought my domain name with a $25 Christmas gift card while at a Dunkin’ Donuts. Life was wild! At the time, I had plans to go live in Thailand to rescue women and children from sex trafficking but as I waited + prepped to make that huge leap, I had to work through the in between. I didn’t have it all figured out but buying my domain name felt right and I can definitely say now, that it was.

I then went to work for Banana Republic, become an admin at my church, and simultaneously did photography all before going back to nurture my heart for missions for 3 months in Nicaragua. This time I took my own camera + taught the students English + photography.

It’s been almost 4 years since that time and I’m now a full time CEO: capturing your beautiful stories, helping my clients feel confident through fashion, inspiring women through faith and coming soon is something really special!

I haven’t told that beginning story in a while and It humbles me every time, but I know it may be new to you ❤️. What’s something that surprised you today?
