One of the most common questions brides ask is: “How many photography hours do I really need?” And the answer depends on what you want captured — and how you want the day to feel.
Here’s a simple way to choose without overwhelm.
6 Hours — Intimate, Chic Weddings
A refined option for intimate, intentionally paced celebrations.
A 6-hour wedding photography timeline is best suited for smaller weddings or couples who prefer a streamlined, minimalist experience. With limited buffer built in, this coverage focuses on essential moments—captured with clarity, artistry, and intention.
This option favors a curated narrative rather than exhaustive coverage, making it ideal for couples who value design-forward storytelling.
A 6-hour timeline typically includes:
Select wedding day details
Partial getting ready coverage
Ceremony
Family portraits
Couples portraits
Opening reception moments or a key reception highlight
This timeline is perfect for couples seeking an elevated, editorial feel while embracing a more concise documentation of their day.
8 Hours
An 8-hour wedding photography timeline is ideal for many weddings, especially if you want the day to unfold with a little more ease. This amount of coverage allows for breathing room throughout the day, reducing stress and creating space for natural, unscripted moments to be documented.
With eight hours of coverage, we’re able to capture a cohesive, story-driven view of your wedding day—from the quiet beginnings to the most meaningful celebrations—without needing to stay for the entire reception.
An 8-hour timeline typically includes:
Wedding day details (dress, rings, stationery, florals)
Getting ready coverage
A first look, if preferred
Ceremony
Family portraits
Bridal party portraits
Couples portraits
Key reception events (such as entrances, toasts, and first dances)
This option is perfect for couples who want a full wedding day story captured thoughtfully, but don’t feel the need for extended late-night reception coverage.red.
10–12 Hours — Editorial, Multi-Layered Weddings
Full-day coverage for immersive, story-driven imagery
A 10-12 hour wedding photography timeline is designed for weddings that prioritize atmosphere, emotion, and a layered visual story. With generous buffer built in, the day unfolds at a slower pace—allowing for nuance, movement, and quiet in-between moments.
This level of coverage supports a deeply cinematic approach, capturing both the grand and the subtle without compromise.
A 10-12 hour timeline typically includes:
Comprehensive wedding day details
Extended getting ready coverage
First look or pre-ceremony portraits
Ceremony
Family and bridal party portraits
Couples portraits at multiple points throughout the day
Full reception coverage, including late-night moments
This timeline is best for couples who want their wedding documented in its entirety, with nothing rushed and nothing missed.
Choosing the Right Wedding Photography Timeline
Selecting the right amount of coverage is about more than hours—it’s about how you want your day to feel. Whether you prefer a refined, minimalist narrative or an immersive editorial story, your timeline shapes the way your memories are preserved.

Growing up my mom was always well dressed and documented. There was one image, framed, where her hair was in a soft curly afro, dark lipstick, and a subtle smile. She was breathtaking. In the portrait, she wore a one shouldered velvet top, or dress-I couldn’t tell because it was taken through the window of a vintage car. I moved to the US at 18 and returned home on year to find that it was no longer there! One of my biggest wishes was that I had it. While it was my favorite-I have many others to remind me of the beauty she carries and the style she values.
As a little girl, I would flip through our albums looking at her life and mine. Taking portraits on disposable cameras or going to the studio near our home in Trinidad for Christmas and special occasions. Those are days I cherish so dearly and know the weight of it’s value. I saw my parents work hard and wanted to be what they were, but I became what they modeled for me—a preserver of life’s moments, with an appreciation for timeless, elegant style and an advocate for those who need compassion. Post college, I searched for who I was meant to be as an artist and it was undeniable—when I show up I add beauty to the world and started my company to replicate that with each person and moment I am trusted to capture/photograph.
My clients experience the best of me, with care and rave about my professionalism/expertise and passion, as someone who “knows she’s not just clicking a button….but anchoring memories to photographs that will become artwork, gifts, treasures that capture our moments forever.” They “feel that on the other side of the camera throughout the whole process.”
