I met with my fall bride and we talked about the oh so fun details of her wedding. We ran through the details of the venue, where they’d be having their ceremony, flower and decor details, the whole nine. And then…my friends we talked about the food. Her face lit up and she said, “We’re having Waffle House” at our reception. What a unique reception food idea! She went on to share about how her family went their for holidays and it was just their thing. This is what all about dear, including the things that are sentimental to you and your family. Since this time, I thought I would give you some ideas from vendors I’ve had the privilege to connect with.
Unique Reception Food Ideas
Gilly Brewing Co.
Man oh man. Gilly Brewing Co. is THE spot in Stone Mountain Village. I’d even venture out to say, Atlanta. There is truly nothing like Gilly. Each season, owner Daniel Brown curates drinks to match the season with unique and unforgettable flavors. After my last visit there I shared, “Won an elixir from @gillybrewbar and my only wish is that it were bottomless. How one takes these flavors and makes them unforgettable baffles me. I’m a creature of habit so I get the same things- matcha or a basic latte when I feel like “cheating”. I’ll happily venture out with tastes like this. Daniel, my friend-you are beyond exceptional.” If you love personalized experiences, elixirs, lattes, speciality coffee, this is a must have for your wedding reception. Check out their menu here and contact the owner and innovator Daniel, here!
Yup, I said it. Chick-fil-a! If you don’t have a Chick-fil-a in your city, send me your address and I will freeze and overnight your order. Chick-fil-a is the fast food of all fast foods. They are the milk to your favorite cereal, the sugar to your sweet tea, the secret sauce, the place to eat! Okay, okay…you get the point. My last couple met there and had it at their reception. Um, HELLO! Talk about a favorite on your wedding day. I’ve catered from catered more times than I can count and their customer service is stellar just as it is at their restaurants. Their catering managers are easily accessible via the nearest location near you. If you’re in doubt, think about it, layers of tenders, nuggets, wraps, their newest mac and cheese scrumptious cookies or breakfast options layered on your own fancied up platters. Convinced right? If you love Chick-fil-a, if it’s significant to your story or weekly visit, include it. Contact your local store manager @chickfila and they will serve you exceptionally well!
Southern Crust Catering
My mouth’s watering just thinking about it. Pizza IS my favorite and I thank God for gluten free options and cauliflower crusts. There are so many options for serving pizza at your wedding reception but one place comes to mind. At a Knot Wedding Meeting I met the Karen, the owner of a Pizza food truck. Holy Moly! That’s a thing. Southern Crust Catering is all mobile and serves their dishes “out of an authentic, vintage 1953 Chevy — complete with a fully outfitted wood-fired brick pizza oven. They’re relaxed, fun, mobile, and ready to go any time!”. @southerncrust, their menu for weddings is extensive and they also offer speciality pizzas, gluten free options, deserts, entrees, salads and appetizers. I don’t know about you, but I’m game for pizza at a wedding. If you’re sold and really want to know more, give them a shout here.
Matcha and Macarons
It is no secret. I love Matcha. I am a wee bit nervous about sharing my precious go to with you because it is so quaint and quite. At least once a week, I frequent, Mac Lab Bakery. They are always so kind and even customize my matcha when I ask! They are one of my favorites places to order matcha. Their ambience suits my creativity when I need to work and it’s near by my house which is a huge bonus! Not only do they make amazing matcha, their macarons are one of a kind. I’ve seen so many neat and specialized designs each time I visit. I ordered some for my birthday last year and I just wished I could have had every flavor. In my opinion, Mac Lab is known for their creativity, unique flavors and designs. On a tiered platter at your wedding reception, it will certainly be a show stopper. Step by Step Catering
Okay, so I saved this one for last because she is my favorite. She’s my aunt and she’d been in business for 22 years. I could go on and on about her genuine, full of life personality but then I’d never get to the dish I want to tell you about. It’s her pasta. Bowtie pasta, chicken, peppers and sauce, It sounds so simple but it will have you returning for seconds, thirds and if you can fit it in fourths. If it’s telling, it’s one of the things we always ask for at our family gatherings. Imagine having an Italian food station with this undoubtedly delicious reception food. But try it for yourself, reach out Vanessa here. You’d not only gain a friend, you’d have pretty great pasta..and of course extensive menu options.
I truly do believe these are worthy reception food ideas for a small wedding or elopement. To get in touch with me I can be reached at email@example.com or via my website. And of course, all links to contact these amazing wedding vendors can be found again, below.
